ScoreTap · Getting started
How to enter student scores and export a gradebook
ScoreTap is a browser gradebook for turning a class roster into a score entry table. Start with a blank table or import a roster, add assessment columns, and review the results before exporting. It is useful for teachers who need to record marks without setting up a school information system.
Prepare and import a roster
Use a CSV or XLSX file with a clear header row and one student per row. ScoreTap also reads tables from text-based PDFs. A scanned image PDF may not contain readable table text; export a CSV or spreadsheet from the original document when possible.
- Open ScoreTap and choose the import control, or begin in the blank workspace.
- Select the roster file. In the preview, check the detected columns and choose which information to include. Confirm the student rows before starting.
- Name the assessment and add the score or text columns you need. Check each assessment's maximum score before entering marks.
- Enter scores, use student search to find a row, and review missing entries. An empty cell and a score of zero have different meanings, so check blanks before treating the table as complete.
- Review the analysis panel, then download CSV or XLSX. Print is also available from the workspace.
Check results before sharing
Verify the roster, score limits and a few representative totals against your source records. CSV is convenient for importing into another tool; XLSX is useful for continuing in a spreadsheet. Keep an exported copy with the assessment name and date so you can identify the correct version later.
Local browser storage and backups
The current project is saved in this browser's local storage. Clearing site data or using another browser can remove access to that local copy. Export your work regularly and handle student information according to your school's policies. An exported gradebook is a file you control; review its contents before sharing it.
